International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda fugitive arrested (06/10/2009)
Idelphonse Nizeyimana, one of the 12 remaining fugitives wanted by the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) has been arrested in Uganda.
Baroness Kinnock said:
" I welcome the arrest in Uganda of Idelphonse Nizeyimana, one of the 12 remaining fugitives from the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR), and his subsequent transfer to the ITCR. Idelphonse Nizeyimana was a military commander and is accused of wide ranging offences including instigating, encouraging, facilitating or acquiescing to killings, kidnappings and rapes, and is also accused of ordering the killing of the Queen of Rwanda.
The brutal crimes committed in Rwanda in 1994 continue to shock to this day. I would like to congratulate the ICTR and the Government of Uganda for their efforts in ensuring that this man faces justice in a court of law."
