Visas for the UK

How to apply for a UK visa in Kenya

Where can I get information?

You can find out whether you need a visa and how to apply through the Visa Application Centre (VAC) website.

VFS Global manages the Visa Application Center. They are a commercial company chosen by UK Border Agency (UKBA) and the British High Commission Kenya to administer the visa scheme in Kenya on our behalf.

The VAC also provides information, supplied and approved by UKBA, by e-mail and phone.

Where can I get advice?

The VAC and its staff cannot give you advice on how to complete your application, or what type of visa you should apply for. If you need help with your application, or advice about the UK’s immigration rules and requirements, you need to contact a qualified professional immigration adviser or lawyer. In the UK, the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner keeps a list of registered immigration advisers.

How do I submit my application?

There is one Visa Application Centre in Kenya: The VAC in Nairobi. This is where you should submit your application and your biometric fingerscans. Please click on link for directions to VAC Kenya.

Who decides whether I will get a visa?

UKBA staff will process and decide your visa application. The VAC and its staff play no part in the outcome of your visa application. They cannot influence it in any way.  If any member of staff employed by the VAC say they can influence your application, you should tell the British High Commission as soon as possible.
